David Underwood

David V. Underwood, 93, of Tonganoxie, Kansas passed away June 24, 2018, at his home. He was born May 13, 1925, in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Victor and Winifred (Bundy) Underwood. He grew up in the Kansas City area where he graduated from Wyandotte High School. He served in the US Army from 1943-46; he then farmed in the Tonganoxie area for several years and after selling the farm went to work for Farmland Industries in Lawrence. On September 7, 1947, he married Fay Irene Young in Tonganoxie. They were married for 68 years and she predeceased him on December 20, 2015. Other survivors include a son, Paul Underwood (Kathy) of Tonganoxie and a daughter, Martha Hendricks (Randy) of Tulsa, Oklahoma. He was predeceased by a son, Carl Underwood (Connie) of Tonganoxie in January, 2015. Also surviving are 10 grandchildren and seven great grandchildren as well as his sister, JoAnne Farris of Texas. Fay and David enjoyed many years of camping and in retirement spending time in Texas.
Visitation will be Wednesday, June 27, at 10 am at Quisenberry Funeral Home with services to follow directly at 11 am. Burial will be at Hubbel Hill Cemetery. Memorials are suggested to the Tonganoxie Public Library.
