Henry Papenhausen
Henry Papenhausen, resident of Yucaipa, finished God’s race set before him at the age of 76 on Sunday, November 4, 2018 in Riverside, California. He was born April 28, 1942 in Kansas City, Kansas, the son of Fred and Mildred Papenhausen, Tonganoxie, Kansas. Proceeded in death by parents and siblings: Jim Lay, Betty Lay Freeman, Rosalie Lorance, Fred Papenhausen. Survived by wife, Mary Papenhausen; children, Robyn Howard, Charles Papenhausen, and Sheila Schiller; sister, Pam Cunningham; 5 grandchildren; and 1 great-grandchild.
Henry served proudly in the Navy as a Hospital Corpsman from 1960 – 1964. Attended UCLA, Inhalation Therapy Program and became a registered respiratory therapist at UCLA and Indio Director of Respiratory Care. He was an instructor of respiratory care at College of the Desert. Graduated from Bud Beaston’s School of Shoeing in Norman, Oklahoma and began his career as a farrier. He spent 40 years as a damn good farrier until his retirement last year. Henry is remembered for his great sense of humor, storytelling, and love of animals. Henry will be cremated and a private memorial service will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to your local animal shelter.
