Robert Ryan
Robert Gene Ryan, 90, McLouth, KS, passed peacefully June 21, 2020. Bob was born November 7, 1929 in Douglas County, KS, the son of Leo and Irene (Allison) Ryan.
Bob took on many roles in his lifetime, touching many lives. He drove a delivery truck for Rawlings feed store in Tonganoxie, KS. He apprenticed with a family member, learning the trade of carpentry, going on to start his own building company, “Ryan Builders”. Bob has built and restored many houses in the area. Bob proudly served as a Deputy and storm watcher for the Leavenworth County Sheriff’s Office for several years while continuing his building business. After he served with the Sheriffs Office, he started his own water hauling business. Bob retired from a full time carpenter in the late 90’s. He continued to haul water and was often found in the hay field during his retirement. In his free time, Bob enjoyed being with his family and going on hunting and fishing trips.
He was a member of the Odd Fellows and was a faithful member to Stanwood Friends Church and Tonganoxie Friends Church.
Bob was United in marriage on May 29, 1949 in Stanwood Friends Church to Alfreda (Jones) Ryan. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and greatgrandfather.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Kathel (Kat) Dungan, April 4, 2019. He is survived by his wife of 71 years, his daughters and son¬in¬laws; Susan (Derek) Womack, Phoenix, AZ, Mike Dungan, Leavenworth, KS, and Anah (Dwayne) Mance, Leavenworth, KS, and his 8 grand¬children and 12 greatgrandchildren.
A private burial will be at Wild Horse Cemetery, McLouth, KS.
There will be a public celebration of his life at 2:00 pm on Oct. 4 at Wildhorse Cemetery, Mclouth, KS.
