Richard Meints

Richard (Dick) W. Meints, 93, passed on February 18, 2021 at the Kansas Medical/ St. Francis Hospital in Topeka, Kansas due to complications of Covid19. Richard and his twin brother were born at Easton, Kansas on June 22, 1927. He was the son of Christian and Lillian (Moeller) Meints. He was a lifelong member of the Lutheran Church.
Richard graduated from Tonganoxie High School in 1946. He married his first wife, Ruby Grantz and fathered five children. He built the family home and eventually opened Dick’s TV and Repair shop in Tonganoxie, Kansas. Later, he married his second wife, Betty Hyde.
He was a master at working through complicated processes, thinking outside the box, and fixing just about anything. His family fondly remembers his amusement and speed when solving Rubric’s Cubes and other such puzzles (his favorite pastimes).
Richard is preceded in death by his wives, Ruby and Betty, his infant son, Richard Joe, his twin brother, Robert, and his sisters, Ethelyn Wager, Gertrude Dunlap, and Carolyn Pantle. He is survived by his four children: Wanda Kay Knight, Snohomish, WA, Lorna (Jeannie) Plake (Brian), McLouth, KS, Kenneth Meints (Melanie), Bonner Springs, KS, and Marvin Meints (Pam), Eudora, KS, his sister, Shirley Hand (Stanley), Tonganoxie, KS, eleven grandchildren, and twenty-one great grandchildren
