George Arthur Warren
George Arthur Warren, 89, Tonganoxie, Kansas, passed away on July 6, 2024 at Kansas City Hospice House. George, the youngest of four children, was born on March 15, 1935 to Jessie “Bert” and Berniece (Tebbe) Warren in Basehor, Kansas. He grew up and attended school in the Basehor/Tonganoxie area. George married Virginia Mae Theno on September 26, 1953, and the two devotedly celebrated each other every day of their 70+ years together. They began their marriage journey in Kansas City, Kansas, living in Wyandotte County until their dream of building their own home and moving back to Tonganoxie in 1973 came to fruition.
George was a Real Estate Broker, and a well respected Commercial Carpenter Superintendent, but was best known as an Auctioneer; his chant was recognized throughout Tonganoxie and surrounding areas for decades. Warren Auction Service signs could be seen on street corners most weekends, directing bidders to bankruptcy, estate, or real estate auctions.
George belonged to Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus. He served as president of Sacred Heart Pastoral Council, president of the board at Beautiful Savior Nursing Home, instructor at Missouri School of Auctioneering. George belonged to Carpenters Local #61/314, the National Auctioneers Association, the National Realtors Association, was a Seratoma member, a Community Leader of Vance 4H Club and volunteered his services for many years at the Leavenworth and Wyandotte 4H Livestock auctions, as well as church bazaars and school fundraisers.
Of all his accomplishments, George was most proud of his family: his lovely wife, Jenny Mae, his favorite daughter, Debbie, his favorite daughter, Sharon, his favorite daughter, Pam, his favorite daughter, Mindy, his favorite daughter, Joyce. He beamed at gaining sons as his daughters married, adored having the special bond of being Grandpa/Gramps to each one of his grandkids, and was thrilled to become Super Gramps to his great grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents, his sisters, Dorothy Korb and Ruth Noah, his brother, Lewis Warren, his great grandson, Nathan Goos, and his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Rose and Ernie Theno.
George is survived by his wife, Virginia of the home, his daughters: Deborah (Gene) Becker, Tonganoxie, Sharon (Mark) Coberly, Overland Park, Pam (Greg) Lang, Lawrence, Melinda (Gary) Heise, Leawood, Joyce (Laird) McNeiley, Overland Park, 17 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren, many nieces and nephews, his church family and innumerable dear friends.
Visitation and rosary will be Friday evening, July 12 from 5:00-7:30 and Celebration of his Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, July 13 at 10:00 a.m., both at Sacred Heart Church, 1100 West Street, Tonganoxie, Kansas. Entombment will be immediately following in Holy Redeemer Mausoleum at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations to the Sacred Heart Church Building Fund or Kansas City Hospice House, care of Quisenberry Funeral Home.
