Diane Elizabeth Truesdell

Diane Elizabeth Truesdell, age 68, of Tonganoxie, Kansas, passed away on October 27, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones after a two-year battle with bile duct cancer. Known for her warmth, compassion, and unwavering spirit, Diane touched the lives of everyone she met.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Donald B. Hagner and Irene N. (Negley) Hagner, and her sister, Corrine H. O’Reilly. Diane is survived by her husband, James B. Truesdell; her children, Tyler J. Truesdell, Lindsey J. Truesdell, and Keaton G. Truesdell; her brothers, Peter Hagner and Donald N. Hagner; as well as her granddog, Mojo, and grandcats, Sid, Siri, and Sheldon.

Diane graduated from Kenmore West High School in 1974 and attended Buffalo State University, where she also volunteered with the Special Olympics.

She met her husband, Jim, on April Fool’s Day in 1982 in Kansas City, Kansas, and they married on April 28, 1983. Together, they raised three children and created a loving home filled with laughter and cherished memories.

A dedicated member of the Tonganoxie community, Diane volunteered at the Tonganoxie Elementary School Volunteer Center for 20 years, helping to organize programs such as Reading Is Fundamental (RIF). She served on the Tonganoxie School Board from 2006 to 2015 and was board president from 2009 to 2011. Diane’s commitment to education and her passion for helping children shaped many lives.

Her enthusiasm for her children’s activities was unmatched. Whether attending sports games, band concerts, or theatrical performances, Diane was their biggest cheerleader. She loved capturing these moments on film and enjoyed volunteering for field trips and team dinners.

A devoted Christian, Diane spent many years leading Vacation Bible School, sharing her faith and nurturing the spiritual growth of countless children. Her kindness and gentle spirit left a lasting impact on her community.

Diane cherished her childhood home of Buffalo, New York, and remained a lifelong Buffalo Bills fan. She frequently traveled back to Buffalo to spend time with her beloved family, where she relished every moment.

Memorial donations in Diane’s name can be made to the Cholangiocarcinoma Foundation. A celebration of her life will be held at Tonganoxie United Methodist Church on Sunday, November 10, 2024, at 2:00 PM. The event will also be livestreamed on the Tonganoxie United Methodist Church’s YouTube page for those unable to attend.
