Carol Elizabeth McCreary

Carol Elizabeth McCreary, 82, of Tonganoxie, died Thursday, October 3, 2024 at Vintage Park Assisted Living. Carol was born April 30, 1942 at Concordia, KS, the daughter of Daniel John Irvin and Stella Z. Budreau Tholstrup. She graduated Concordia High School in 1960 and attended the University of Kansas, where she lived in Sellard’s Scholarship Hall. She earned a B.S. degree in Education in 1964. She served four years as an English and Social Studies teacher at Shawnee Mission Middle School and three years at East Gate Public School in North Kansas City. She also taught at the All Saints School for the Arch Diocese of Kansas City, KS. She retired in 2017 after working as a Real Estate Agent in Wyandotte and Johnson County for many years, where she served as the president of the women’s council of Wyandotte County Real Estate. She was also a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie.

She married Patrick Ewing McCreary April 1,1967 at Concordia, KS, he preceded her in death on March 8, 2020. She is survived by two sons, Ryan P. McCreary, Tonganoxie, Joshua D. (Sarah) McCreary, Overland Park, two daughters, Piper E. (Michael ) Wentz, Nortonville, Pamela A. (Rick) Pray, Tonganoxie,11 grandchildren and four greatgrandchildren. She was also preceded in death by a sister, Roberta Link and a brother, Norman Tholstrup.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Tuesday, October 8, 2024 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Tonganoxie. Parish Rosary will be 5:00 PM, Monday, October 7 with Visitation 5:30 to 7:00 PM, at the Church. Burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery, Tonganoxie.
