Joseph moved his family including Warren’s brother Larry and two sisters, Susie and Karen to Tonganoxie, KS. His family was well know in the small community. Warren worked for nearby farmers and washed cars for auto shops with one goal, that was to buy a car. The 1957 Oldsmobile convertible was his dream come true.
After graduation from high school he worked for Jacks Construction building grain elevators in Kansas, Ohio and Michigan, including the one in Tonganoxie.
His next job was with Calgary Chemical in Lawrence, KS. That facility was a pilot program to make liquid rocket propellants for the federal government.
In 1958 Warren was drafted into the Army. He was trained at Ft. Sill, OK . He trained to do computations for a field artillery unit based in Dachau, Germany. It was a concentration camp in WWII. Warren and Carol visited the camp in 2011 at the invitation of the Bavarian police. Warren presented them with a scrapbook of pictures. They were pleased as they are creating a war memorial.
Upon his return he went to work at Bendix which was Honeywell when he retired as a Supervisor 33 years later.
In 1973 Warren and Carol Cole were married. They made a family in Raytown, MO for three boys from Warrens first marriage and two girls from Carols first marriage. In 1989 they built a home in Lees Summit, MO.
Not satisfied with early retirement from Bendix, Warren became a licensed real estate appraiser in Kansas and Missouri.
Over the years Warren participated in trap shooting, golf, fishing, skiing and most important he was a Kansas City Chiefs fan.
Carol and Warren traveled throughout the US and made several trips to England and Europe. Their last trip was to Switzerland where his ancestors were living since the 1500’s. With the help from an interpreter he saw his ancestral farms, church and graveyard.
In 2014 Warren and Carol moved to a senior community in McKinney, TX to be near their children and grandchildren. He enjoyed watching them grow into fine young people.
He leaves Carol, sons Carl, Alan and Paul; stepdaughters, Candi and Kim and three grandchildren, and two sisters, Susie Parmer and Karen Sirridge; and nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.
