Barbara Sluiter (Denholm)
Barbara Greer-Sluiter devoted educator, loving mother and grandmother passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 22, 2025 at Wellspring Senior Living Campus-Saginaw. She was 84 years old.
In keeping with Barbara’s wishes, cremation has taken place and a burial of her cremated remains will be at Maple Grove Cemetery in Tonganoxie. Family and friends will gather at the Quisenberry Funeral Home on June 13 at 1pm.
Following the ceremony the friends and family are invited to 1866 Restaurant in Tonganoxie.
Barbara Ann Denholm was born on September 5, 1940 in Tonganoxie, Kansas to William and Irene (Cox) Denholm. She was the youngest of seven children. Siblings; William Denholm Sr. (Geneva), Ruth Denholm DeHoff (Lloyd), Harold Denholm (Aileen), Byron Denholm (Evelyn), Wilma Denholm Gillespie (James).
She graduated from Kansas State University with a degree in Elementary Education and later earned her master’s degree from Wichita State University. In 1990, she married Jack Sluiter, and together they moved to Saginaw to be closer to her daughter and grandchildren. While in Michigan, during her retirement years, she enjoyed working as a Field Placement Coordinator for Saginaw Valley State University. Barbara was also a member of Eastern Star and P.E.O.
She was a proud and devoted mother to her daughter and son-in-law, Amy and Denny Weirda, and a cherished grandmother to Collin and Anna, who brought her endless joy.
