Tonganoxie High girls wrestling regional runner-up at Sabetha; Chieftains sending 4 to state
Tonganoxie High girls wrestling made program history with a second-place finish as a team at regionals Saturday in Sabetha. THS also is sending four wrestlers to state.
The Chieftains scored 111 points as a team, just 2 points shy of champion Holton at the Class 4-1A regional.

In addition to earning its first regional plaque, Tonganoxie qualified four wrestlers for state: Finley Keller, junior Stella Bradley, Grace Stean and sophomore Autumn Wilson. Keller placed fourth at 130, while Bradley won the 115 title, Stean the 170 and Wilson the 110. Bradley (33-5) defeated previously undefeated Keera Lacock of Rossville in her semifinal bout. Lacock is now 33-1 and took third at regionals. THS will compete Feb. 22-24 at the 4-1A state championships at Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina.
Wilson (36-5) will open state against Uniontown junior Madison Shepard (19-15) at 110. Bradley (33-5) opens with Russell sophomore Mya Trevino (24-11), while Keller (25-18) undefeated Halstead freshman Caitlyn Divine (37-0).
Stean (34-6) drew Cherryvale senior Taylor Plumley (32-4) for her first-round opponent.
