Tonganoxie High boys basketball on road for substate semifinals at Fort Scott
The Tonganoxie High boys basketball team will head south for substate this season.
At 7-13, THS is the No. 12 seed in the Chanute Substate and will take on No. 5 Fort Scott at 6 p.m. today on the road. The Tigers are 14-6 on the season. The winner of that Class 4A East Bracket game takes on the winner of No. 4 Chanute (15-5) and No. 13 Wamego (6-14) on Saturday at Chanute.
Tonganoxie has faced one of the substate teams this year. Wamego defeated THS, 56-35, in the third game of the season at WHS.
Both Tonganoxie and Fort Scott have a common opponent. Fort Scott defeated Paola, 45-31, in the third game of the season, while THS outlasted Paola, 39-34, on Feb. 16.
Fort Scott also played Paola. The Tigers defeated the Panthers, 66-48, on Jan. 23, at Fort Scott. PHS finished the year 0-20. Fort Scott also defeated Ottawa, 44-43, on Dec. 8.
