Tonganoxie Invitational Basketball Tournament starts today
It’s time for the annual action-packed week of basketball in Tonganoxie.
The 65th annual Tonganoxie Invitational begins today.
Boys teams will play today, Thursday and Saturday, while girls teams will hit the court Tuesday, Friday and Saturday.
On the girls side, quarterfinal games will be No. 1 Eudora (6-0) vs. No. 8 Holton (1-5), No. 2 Wamego (6-0) vs. No. 7 Tonganoxie (1-4), No. 3 Blue Valley West (4-3) vs. No. 6 St. James Academy (1-2) and No. 4 Piper (4-4) vs. No. 5 Bonner Springs (2-3).
On the boys side, quarterfinal games Tuesday will be No. 1 Atchison (6-0) vs. No. 8 Christ Prep (record N/A), No. 2 Eudora (3-2) vs. No. 7 Metro Academy (record N/A), No. 3 Bonner Springs (3-2) vs. No. 6 Tonganoxie (0-5) and No. 4 Schlagle (1-3) vs. No. 5 Wamego (1-5).
Games on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday will start at 3 p.m., 4:30 p.m., 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Championship and consolation bracket games will be played Thursday and Friday, with medal round games to be played Saturday.
Teams will play for first, third, fifth and seventh place on Saturday. Games will start at 10 a.m. Saturday and be played in both Chieftain Arena and the adjoining auxiliary gymnasium, which is the former main gym at THS. Fifth- and seventh-place games will be played at 10 a.m. on the girls side in Chieftain Arena and the auxiliary gymnasium, respectively. The third-place game will be played at 1 p.m. and the championship at 4:30 p.m. at Chieftain Arena.
On the boys side, fifth- and seventh-place games will be played at 11:30 a.m. Saturday in Chieftain Arena and the auxiliary gym, respectively and then the third-place game will start at 2:30 p.m. and the championship at 6 p.m. in Chieftain Arena.
