Tonganoxie High boys golf 2024

Tonganoxie High boys golf competed in two tournaments Thursday. The varsity made the trip out to Junction City and played at Rolling Meadows, while junior varsity competed in a tourney at Perry.

Varsity had a strong day as the squad shot a 347.

The team was led by Colton Brusven (81) in ninth place and Lachlan McRae with an 81 as well. Zac Fisher shot an 87. The other participants were Gavin Reischman, Wesley Johnson and Aiden Van Middleworth.

“This was a good step forward and a great prep for regionals,” THS coach Doug Sandburg said in a story on the Tongie Nation website.

He noted that JV played solid and learned some valuable lessons about scoring.

On Tuesday, JV competed in its final tournament of the season with a meet at Ottawa.

The team took third place behind Ottawa and Paola. Tonganoxie was led by Cameron Wensel with 44 and Carson Heffel with 48. The other counting scores were Noah Carlton (52) and Mark Geiger with 54.

The other participants were Thatcher Page and Cade Allen.

This will end the regular season.

The varsity team will continue to work toward regionals, which are Monday at Clay Center.

The Class 4A regional is set to start at 10 a.m.

Other teams there are Abilene, Atchison, Chapman, Clay Center, Concordia, Holton, Rock Creek and Wamego.

Other 4A regional sites this year are Chanute, Hugoton and Wellington.
