Basehor-Linwood overpowers Tonganoxie in rivalry game; McLouth wins on road
The 8 Mile Showdown ended up being pretty one-sided Friday night.
Basehor-Linwood held court much of the night in its homecoming game against Tonganoxie.
The Bobcats took advantage of some Chieftain miscues early and jumped to a 20-0 lead in the first quarter. BLHS scored again in the second quarter before THS quarterback Talon Langford found Todd Brown for a big reception. Brown scampered down the THS sideline for a 50-yard touchdown reception. Cody Lobb’s extra point was no good, but THS was on the board, 27-6.
Tonganoxie recovered the ensuing kickoff in the third quarter and the Chieftains suddenly looked to be very much in the game with a short field. THS, though, could not capitalize on the golden opportunity. The Chieftains turned the ball over on downs deep in Bobcat territory and the chance at making the game a two-possession game.
Basehor-Linwood wouldn’t look back after that. BLHS went on to win, 44-6.
