McLouth softball remains unbeaten at 8-0; baseball on losing skid

The two-time defending Class 2-1A state champions continue to roll early in the season at McLouth.
The MHS softball squad is 8-0 on the season so far. McLouth has earned doubleheader sweeps at Jeff County North (15-0 and 16-2), at Centralia (6-0 and 2-0), at home against Valley Falls (10-3 and 13-0) and at Atchison (15-0 and 14-1).
The Bulldogs’ closest games have come against Centralia. The Panthers lost the first game, 6-0, but only lost the second game, 2-0, to the Bulldogs.
McLouth is at home Thursday against Riverside and then is on the road Monday against archrival Oskaloosa.
MHS baseball seeking more notches in win column
McLouth baseball opened the season 1-1 with a split against Jefferson County North, but MHS dropped its home-opening doubleheader, 15-0 and 11-0, against Valley Falls on Thursday and then lost a doubleheader Monday at Atchison. The Phoenix won, 5-0 and 11-1.
Next up for the Bulldogs (1-5) is Riverside on Thursday at home and then Monday at Oskaloosa.
McLouth track set to open season next week
The McLouth track and field season is set to kick off with the Oskaloosa Invitational on Tuesday and then the McLouth Invitational three days later on April 11.
