THS swept Bishop Ward, 13-1 and 17-0, April 8 in Kansas City, Kan.

Tonganoxie would score in every inning but the second in the first game. THS scored one in the first, three in the third, four in the fourth and five in the fifth in the victory. Tonganoxie outhit Bishop Ward, 7-2. Both teams committed two errors.

In the second game, Tonganoxie ended the game in three innings thanks to three runs in the first, four more in the second and 10 in the third. THS held Bishop Ward hitless in the three innings. The Chieftains had 11 hits in the game, while the Cyclones committed five errors. THS had one miscue in the game.

Tonganoxie then faced undefeated Eudora on the road Thursday. THS jumped out to a 2-0 lead, but the squad wouldn’t be able to muster anymore runs after that.

Eudora made it 4-2 in the bottom of the first and was up 6-2 after two innings. A 10-run third inning helped push the game toward the mercy rule. The game ended after four innings when Eudora made it 17-2 with a final run.

Tonganoxie played at Paola for a doubleheader Tuesday after The Mirror’s print deadline.

Paola was 6-4 entering the games. THS will be at Louisburg on Thursday and then home Monday against Atchison County.
