Tonganoxie High boys golf team members at the Manhattan Invitational.

The Tonganoxie High varsity boys golf team headed out to Manhattan on April 14 to play the Manhattan Country Club.

The course was in great shape and the rules were like regionals. The boys finished seventh overall in a field that was heavy with 5A and 6A teams. Tonganoxie was led by Gavin Reischman with an 87 and Lachlan McRae with an 89. We will next be in action at Sycamore Ridge Golf Course for League on Thursday. Thanks again for all the support.

The squad went to two tournaments. THS won one tourney and placed second in the other. The boys first headed April 14 to Sunflower Hills to compete in an 18-hole tourney. They battled the wind and took first place. William Dohrn had a great day in taking second as an individual with 86 and leading the way for the squad’s first- place finish. Also having a solid day, Carson Heffel with a good score of 90. Also helping out in the win were Owen Heffel, Grant Edwards, Mark Geiger and Winston Haas.

“This shows a glimpse of what the future will look like for the program,” Sandburg said.

The boys returned to action on Wednesday, April 16, at Burning Tree. They played a fun scramble format. Tonganoxie sent two three- man teams and the Team of Heffel squared and Dohrn took second with a -2 score for the nine holes. The team was back in action on Tuesday at Osawatomie after The Mirror’s print deadline.
