Salina Central denies Basehor-Linwood bid for 1st state football title, wins, 51-34

Salina Central won, 51-34, Friday in Emporia, as the Mustangs claimed their seventh state title. The Bobcats finished their best season in school history at 12-1 after reaching the Class 5A title game.
Kapaun Mount Carmel rolled against Bishop Miege, 56-21, for the 4A title on a frigid night Saturday in Emporia. In the other title game played in Emporia, Manhattan won the 6A title, 27-0, against Olathe Northwest.
In 3A, Andale defeated Hayden, 38-6, while Nemaha Central rolled Southeast of Saline, 35-6, in a rematch of last year’s title game in which Southeast of Saline was victorious.
Sterling slipped past Rossville, 35-34 in the 1A title game.
In 8-Man Division I, South Central took care of Lincoln, 34-8, and Hanover slipped by Victoria, 28-20, in the 8-Man Division II title game.
And in 6-man, Cunningham defeated Weskan, 51-8.
