Tonganoxie High senior Stella Bradley

Tonganoxie High girls wrestling is in a pretty good spot heading into the second and final day of the Class 4A state championships at Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina.

THS is in first place with 70 points after Day 1 on Friday.

The Chieftains lead an overall tight field heading into Day 2. THS is ahead of Abilene (48.5) by 21.5 points, but second and eighth place are separated by just 6.5 points and 10th place is 10.5 behind second place.

There could be substantial movement in the team standings Saturday, but as of now, Tonganoxie is guaranteed at least three medals, including two wrestlers set to compete in the state championships. Tonganoxie has a chance to win a maximum of seven medals. Stella Bradley and Grace Stean will compete for gold medals.
