Tonganoxie girls take 4th at Olathe South Invitational

The Tonganoxie High girls wrestling team went 1-1 in the Southside Slam Duals on Friday at Olathe South and then placed fourth out of 16 teams in the Southside Slam at OSHS on Saturday.
THS lost to Belton (Mo.), 51-30, but defeated Olathe West, 54-30, on Friday.
Garden City won the meet with a whopping 421.5 points.
Belton took second with 322.5 and then Shawnee Mission South placed third with 248.5.
Tonganoxie nabbed fourth with 227.5, just ahead of Ozark, which scored 227.
Shawnee Mission Northwest placed sixth (224.5), Olathe North finished seventh (219) and Omaha Westside eighth (182.5)
Rounding out the Top 10 were Liberty (171) and Emporia (161).
Other teams competing were Spring Hill (141), Campus (125), Olathe South (112), Olathe Northwest (100.5), Olathe West (91.5) and Topeka Seaman (85.5).
The Chieftains had nine wrestlers place at Olathe South on Saturday.
Grace Stean (13-5) and Stella Bradley (24-3) were the highest-finishing THS wrestler after winning silver at 170 and 115, respectively.
Kaylee Pankey (19-6) took third at 110, as did Autumn Wilson (19-4) at 120.
Katy Duncan (15-10) nabbed fourth at 190, while Grae Vanderweide (10-13) placed sixth at 130.
Tonganoxie had two other wrestlers place at Olathe South. Riley Crookham (14-11) at 100 and Mackenzie Colgrove (15-11) at 145 each placed eighth.
Other THS wrestlers competing were Harper Janes (13-13) at 100, Eliza Troyer-Partridge (11-13) at 105, Veda Alvarez (9-13) at 125, Kennedy Somolik (2-13) at 140, Valeria Rodriquez (2-14) at 145, Kendall Smart (5-12) at 155 and Caylee Martin (2-10) at 235.
Tonganoxie has a big tournament Saturday.
The team travels to Washburn Rural for a 9 a.m. meet near Topeka.
Other teams scheduled to compete are Abilene, Bishop Ward, Blue Valley Southwest, Burlingame, Chapman, Clay Center, Council Grove, Fort Scott, Hoxie, Harmon, Jeff West, Lansing, Leavenworth, Manhattan, Mission Valley, Olathe East, Olathe North, Olathe Northwest, Oskaloosa, Park Hill, Rock Creek, Santa Fe Trail, Seaman, Shawnee Mission East, Silver Lake, Spring Hill, Sumner Academy, Washburn Rural, Wyandotte and Burlington.
