Tonganoxie track notches several medals at Wellsville Invite

Solomon Carter won the 1,600 with a personal record time of 4 minutes, 27.28 seconds. The THS boys 4×800 relay team also won gold. The team of Jett Gilmore, Jack Reischman, Parker Welsh and Carter finished first with a time of 8:29.56. Tucker McGuire, meanwhile nabbed gold with the top throw in the discus. His heave of 156 feet, 4 inches won the meet.
On the girls side, Reece Schmidt won the high jump with a 5-2 height.
Other team members earned medals at Wellsville.
Todd Brown took fourth in the 200 (23.33), Jett. Gilmore finished sixth in the 800 (2:06.71) and Elijah Holthaus fourth in the 300 hurdles (44.07).
Finishing out the medals for the boys side were the 4×100 relay team of Hunter Nihart, Kendall Smith, Tanner Hand and Brown (fifth, 44.30) and the 4×400 relay team of Smith, Gilmore, Welsh and Carter (third, 3:28.43).
On the girls side, Ashlyn Brune medaled in the 100 (13.62), as did Kara Johnson in the 800 (2:30.67).
Johnson also placed second in the 3,200 (12:13.58).
Adalyn Schooler joined Schmidt in scoring points in the high jump. She placed third with a height of 4-10.
Brune also nabbed sixth in the long jump (15-6.5).
Keagan Murry got bronze in the pole vault after finishing with a 9-6 height, while Adalyn Schooler got silver in the discus with a 129-7 throw.
Finley Rieke also medaled in the shot put. She placed seventh with a 33-11.5 throw.
Hunter Nihart hands off to Kendall Smith in the 4×100 Friday at the Wellsville Invitational.
