Late Rock Creek runs spoil Tonganoxie softball’s shot at state bid

Tonganoxie softball came up just short of a regional title Wednesday at Rock Creek.
No. 5 Tonganoxie defeated No. 12 Ottawa (12-13) by an 8-0 score in the Class 4A regional semifinals and met No. 4 Rock Creek in the regional finals. Rock Creek defeated No. 13 El Dorado (8-15) by a 7-6 score in its regional semifinal.
Tonganoxie and Rock Creek were tied late in the game, but the Mustangs scored four runs in the bottom of the sixth inning and held on for the 10-6 victory.
Rock Creek advances to state with a 19-7 record, while Tonganoxie finished the season 18-9.
