Tonganoxie track qualifies for state in 14 events overall

He’ll be one of Tonganoxie’s representatives at the state track and field meet this Friday and Saturday in Wichita.Tonganoxie will have representation in eight events on the boys side and six on the girls side at the state track and field championships later this week in Wichita.
THS qualified several in 4A regional action Thursday on its home turf. Beatty Field was the site of one of four 4A regionals. Todd Brown won the 100 and took second in the 200,while Solomon Carter placed third in the 800. Elijah Holthaus placed second in the 300 hurdles. Tucker McGuire also advanced to state after taking third in discus. The top four pacers in each event advance to state.
All three relay teams also are headed to state. The 4×100 team placed fourth, the 4×400 team fifth and the 4×800 team third at regionals.
Reece Schmidt led the way on the girls side. She placed first in the 100, first in the 200 and fourth in the high jump. She also is on the 4×100 relay team that placed second and is headed to state.
Keagan Murry nabbed second in the pole vault, as did Adalyn Schooler in the discus.
The state championships will take place at Cessna Stadium on the Wichita State University campus.
