Chieftains erupt for 6 goals against Orioles on Saturday in Tonganoxie

It was a good day for goals Saturday at Beatty Field for the Tonganoxie High boys soccer team.

THS defeated Augusta, 6-1, in the Chieftains’ highest scoring output of the season. The victory moved the Chieftains to 5-5-2 on the season, while the Orioles dropped to 2-9-2. Tonganoxie has won two games in a row entering play this week. THS also defeated Louisburg, 1-0, Thursday, making Tonganoxie’s Frontier League record to 2-2-2. The Wildcats fell to 6-5-1 overall and 2-3-0 in league play.

Tonganoxie played Basehor-Linwood (3-8-1) Tuesday after The Mirror’s print deadline. THS then visits Paola (2-9) on Thursday. The regular season wraps up next week with a Tuesday home match against Maur Hill-Mount Academy (6-2) and then the regular-season finale two days later on Oct. 23 against Seaman (6-6) at Beatty Field.

THS currently is the No. 10 seed in the Class 4-1A East Regional bracket. Baldwin is the No. 1 seed at 10-2.
