The Tonganoxie High volleyball 12th-graders enjoyed a successful Senior Night on Thursday at Chieftain Arena.

Tonganoxie defeated Bonner Springs in a 3-0 sweep, 25-9, 25-11, 25-21. The victory moved THS to 16-16 on the season.

Seniors on this year’s squad are Abigail Myers, Lilly Burge, Charleigh Crain, Finley Rieke, Kalea Baldock and Kaitlyn Dale. Seniors also sang the National Anthem before the match.

During prematch festivities, the seniors and their parents walked out onto the court. Each senior also selected a teacher or staff member to highlight as being an important part of their high school years at THS.

Tonganoxie currently is the No. 9 seed in the Class 4A East Bracket. THS played Tuesday at Spring Hill (10-16) and then takes on Atchison (10-18) and Leavenworth (8-23) on Thursday in Atchison before visiting Lawrence High (6-17) this coming Tuesday in the regular-season finale.

Tonganoxie’s current seeding would put them in the Chanute substatebracket, as Blue Comets currently are the No. 1 seed in the East Bracket.

Baldock hits 1,000 career assists mark

THS senior setter Kalea Baldock has reached the 1,000 career assist mark. She was recognized on Senior Night for her achievement with a banner.
