Tonganoxie cross country competes at Frontier League meet; regionals Saturday in Leonardville

Both Tonganoxie High cross country teams placed sixth at the Frontier League meet Thursday at the Baldwin City Golf Course.

The boys placed sixth with 137 points. Spring Hill won the meet with 30 points. Eudora placed second (49), Louisburg third (83), Baldwin fourth (98) and Bonner Springs fifth (118). Paola was seventh with 192.

The THS girls scored 149 for sixth. Baldwin won the meet with a low score of 39. Eudora took second (65), Spring Hill third (83), Louisburg fourth (100), Paola fifth (111) and Bonner Springs seventh (171).

On the boys side, Elijah Weatherford finished in the Top 10 for THS. Weatherford placed seventh with a time of 18 minutes, 21.94 seconds.

Ried Wilson placed 27th (19:56.87), Chamberlain Albert 28th (20:14.34), Joseph Dean 50th (23:49.87), Taylor Maslak 54th (24:46.08) and Keigan Culbertson 58th (27:13.07).

On the girls side, Brooke Nihart led all THS runners with a 26th-place finish and a time of 22:31.57.

Legan Caraway placed 34th (23:08.79), Elizabeth Howlett 41st (23:31.46), Gracelynn Barnett 43rd (23:44.06), Kate Wilson 46th (23:46.75), Dayton Schoenhofer 47th (23:51.02) and Autumn Wilson 48th (23:51.25).

Gabriela Garza took 55th (24:12.45), Abby Burkart 56th (24:13.46), Taylor Liebeno 60th (24:36.04), Lillian Sanders 61st (24:39.46), Kylee Cobb 69th (25:58.34), Harper Janes 71st (26:17.24), Audrianna Trumble 74th (26:40.29) and Johanna Boone 76th (26:50.72).

Others competing were Mary Graveman (79th, 26:57.69), Grace Weatherford (80th, 27:11.08), Sydney Kirchoff (83rd, 28:07.62), Lucy Lindholm (84th, 28:10.28), Addie Dean (87th, 28:17.34), Natalie Rogers (89th, 29:30.16), Emerson Maslak (90th, 29:30.47), Gabby Miller (91st, 29:39.75), Allison Bailey (94th, 29:50.30), Kate Carter (96th, 30:59.74), Chaynee Howell (97th, 31:00.83) and Kayleigh Williamson (98th, 39:42.22).

Tonganoxie enters the postseason Saturday with a Class 4A regional in Leonardville at the golf course there.

The girls race starts at 11:10 a.m. and boys at 11:45 a.m.

Other teams there with THS are Atchison, Santa Fe Trail, Clay Center, Concordia, Eudora, Rock Creek, Hayden Catholic from Topeka and Wamego.

The state championships are Nov. 1 at the Wamego Country Club.
