Tonganoxie High's Blake Riedel runs the ball Friday, Oct. 17, 2025, against Eudora at Beatty Field.

Eudora is the No. 1 seed in the Class 4A bracket and No. 2 ranked team in all of 4A, but Tonganoxie gave the Cardinals fits Friday in a Frontier League rivalry game.

The Chieftains put together lengthy grind-it-out drives against the Cards, but eventually fell, 21-17. THS regained lead at 17-14 with 1:34 left in the third, but Eudora would respond 45 seconds into the fourth quarter with a touchdown of its own and then hold on for the rest of the quarter before getting the victory and moving to 6-1 overall and 5-0 in league play. The Cardinals wrapped up at least a share of the league title with the win. Tonganoxie fell to 4-3 and 3-2 on the season.

Tonganoxie scored first with a 3-yard Blake Riedel touchdown run with 11:15 left in the second quarter. EHS answered with a Sy Thomas 10-yard run with 8:15 left before halftime and then went ahead with 2:29 left before intermission on a 42-yard touchdown reception from Preston White.

But THS would have a clutch answer right before half. THS got the ball back and was in Eudora territory when quarterback Bodee Mask got injured. Backup Baron Dohrn found Landen Ruff for a catch along the Eudora sideline with 3.6 seconds left before halftime.

Kicker Cody Lobb proceeded to knock through a career long 36-yard field goal as time expired in the second quarter and the score was 17-14. EHS scored the game winner with a 2-yard TD run with 11:14 left in the fourth. Tonganoxie was putting together another long drive later in the fourth, but the drive eventually stalled. THS had another shot at a game-winning drive with 2:12 left and Eudora facing third-and-13, but the Chieftains were flagged for a questionable pass interference on a prayer of a throw and EHS eventually ran out the clock. THS finishes the regular season Friday at Ottawa.
