THS, which was 18-17 heading into the final regular-season action Tuesday at Lawrence High, will compete in the Rock Creek Substate on Saturday near St. George.

The Chieftains are the No. 10 seed in the East Bracket and will face the No. 7 Santa Fe Trail Chargers (26-13) in the substate semifinals. No. 18 Coffeyville (3-25) and No. 15 Baldwin (9-23) will have a play-in match on the other side of the bracket, with the winner meeting No. 2 Rock Creek (30-6). Tonganoxie met two substate teams in the regular season. THS swept Baldwin twice and also defeated Rock Creek early in the season at the Nemaha Central tournament in Seneca.

Substate begins with the play-in match at 1 p.m. The winner of the play-in match meets Rock Creek in Match 2 in the other semifinal and then the THS-Santa Fe Trail will be next, with the championship to follow.
