Tonganoxie High boys soccer will look to get its first Frontier League victory of the season Thursday at home against Ottawa.
The Cyclones are 3-2-1 overall and 0-1-1 in league play.
Thursday’s match gives the Chieftains another opportunity to get another victory following a stretch that’s included back-to-back ties.
Tonganoxie lost Thursday to Baldwin, 4-0, on the road. The Bulldogs are 5-1 and 3-0. THS hadn’t won a game since Sept. 2 entering this week, but the Chieftains also hadn’t lost since Sept. 9 before the Baldwin match. And the Chieftains’ first two losses were by one goal each.
THS (1-3-2) was set to face Hayden on Tuesday in Topeka, but the match was postponed. The Wildcats were 0-7 entering play this week and had been outscored 24-0 in their last three matches. THS and Hayden had common opponent in Eudora. Tonganoxie tied EHS on Sept. 11, 0-0, while Hayden lost to Eudora, 3-1, two days earlier.
The match will be made up this coming Tuesday in Topeka.
THS visits Bonner Springs (4-1-1 and 1-1-1) two days later on Oct. 2 for another league contest before heading Oct. 7 to Roeland Park to take on Bishop Miege (5-1).
