Tonganoxie High boys golf competes through busy schedule

Tonganoxie High School, home of the Chieftains

Tonganoxie High boys golf placed fifth at the Wamego Invitational on Thursday.

The Chieftains scored 352 points for fifth place. Wamego won its home invite with a low score of 313.

Luke McRae led Tonganoxie with a 17th-place fiinish and a score of 83.

William Dohrn placed 28th (89), Cameron Wensel 29th (89) and Carson Heffel 35th (91).

Lachlan McRae finished 44th (92) and Owen Heffel 98th (109).

Piper Invitational

Luke McRae was Tonganoxie’s top golfer at the Piper Invitational.

The sophomore placed 21st out of 88, while THS finished ninth out of 14 teams with 354 points. Blue Valley North won the meet with 310. De Soto finished second with 311 and Mill Valley third with 318. Spring Hill was the top Frontier League school with 319 in fourth place.

Lachlan McRae placed 28th (84) at the meet, which took place at Dub’s Dread.

Carson Heffel finished 48th (91), William Dohrn was 65th (98), Cameron Wensel was 69th (99) and Griffith Dean was 71st (100).

Bonner Springs Invitational

Tonganoxie placed ninth out of 10 teams at the meet April 2.

Owen Heffel led all Chieftains with a 27th-place finish and score of 98 at the meet, which took place at Sunflower Hills Golf Course.

Jaxon Albert finished 44th (108), Mason Benedict 50th (119), Weston Haas 54th (125) and Evan Breuer 56th (129).

De Soto won the meet with 325 points. THS had 426. The top Frontier League teams were Bonner Springs in third (356) and Ottawa in fourth (370).

Mill Valley Invitational

Luke McRae again was Tonganoxie’s top golfer this season.

McRae finished 33rd with an 82 at the Mill Valley Jaguar Invitational on April 6 at Oakwood Country Club.

Tonganoxie placed 17th out of 19 with 375 points. Shawnee Mission East won the meet with 295 points. Spring Hill was the top Frontier League team in sixth place with 323.

Lachlan McRae placed 77th with a 91, Carson Heffel 96th with a 100 and Cameron Wensel was 100th with a 102. William Dohrn placed 105th (105) and Griffith Dean 106th (106).

Manhattan tourney

Tonganoxie also competed Monday in Manhattan Invitational, but Tonganoxie results weren’t available by the Mirror’s print deadline.
