Tonganoxie placed third as a team as well. Manhattan won the team title with low scored of 312, while Wamego finished second with a 325. Tonganoxie finished third with a 334.

THS coach Doug Sandburg said the team has been progressing well this spring after a tough stretch. THS opened with a sweep in the season opener at the Firekeeper tournament north of Topeka when Tonganoxie won the team title and Luke McRae nabbed the individual title.

I think we started really well at Firekeeper and then we hit a little snag, ” Sandburg explained. “We play a very challenging schedule and the boys have started to figure it out and get things done. Manhattan was a really good tournament.”

Next up for varsity is the Frontier League meet on Thursday at Sycamore Ridge (Spring Hill).

“W’re trending in the right direction and now it’s going to be a matter of putting together three or four more times,” Sandburg explained. “The guys are learning really well. We’ve had some young kids step up and some of our veterans are continuing to be consistent.

“If we can continue to do that I think we”ll get better and better.”
