Delich heading to Oklahoma for new coaching position

Tonganoxie High's Brett Delich is headed to Oklahoma to coach wrestling in suburban Tulsa. Delich, pictured at left with THS senior wrestler Brady Martin, is leaving Tonganoxie after guiding the program to six straight regional titles, two of which ended in the program's first state team titles.

The most successful coach in Tonganoxie wrestling history is headed to a new post.

Brett Delich will be taking over as head coach at Owasso High School in Owasso, Oklahoma, the suburban Tulsa school announced on Facebook on Friday.

The Rams are coming off a seventh-place team finish at the Oklahoma state championships earlier this year.

While at Tonganoxie, Delich took a strong program and helped it earn a state team title for the first time ever in 2022.

Tonganoxie followed up with a second team title this year, again under Delich’s guidance.

Delich spent eight years at the helm in Tonganoxie after coming to THS from Mill Valley.

The Chieftains have won six straight regional titles along with those two state crowns during that tenure.

“Tonganoxie has been such a special place for us, and we’re truly grateful for the time, memories and the people who have become like family along the way,” Delich said in a Facebook post. “We’re excited for what’s ahead and all that this next chapter holds.”
