Tonganoxie baseball takes winning streak into tournament, to play Friday at Legends Field

The Chieftains defeated Turner, 12-2, on Senior Night this past Friday at the Leavenworth County Fairgrounds. That followed a doubleheader sweep April 21 at Bonner Springs. THS won those games, 17-0 and 5-1. The three victories came after a come-from-behind victory April 16 against Louisburg when THS scored three runs in the bottom of the sixth and kept the Wildcats off the board in the seventh for a 5-4 win.
THS played at Baldwin on Tuesday and won its fifth straight with a commanding 13-0 victory. The squad opens a tournament Thursday against Olathe Northwest and then has two more games in the tourney. It finishes up Friday at Legends Field.
Tonganoxie is 10-6 entering this week’s tournament and currently is the No. 9 seed in the Class 4A East Bracket.
