With school already in session, teams are practicing before or after school. Teams also will be featured at Friday’s Tongie Tailgate. Volleyball teams will be scrimmaging at 4:30 p.m. Friday at Chieftain Arena, while football will have scrimmages starting at 5:40 p.m.

Boys soccer wil have its scrimmage at 6:15 p.m. Though cross country, girls golf and unified bowling teams won’t have any practices as part of Friday’s Tongie Tailgate, those teams will be recognized during the festivities at various times.

The first team to open its schedule this fall will be boys soccer. THS begins the season Aug. 28 at home against Kansas City Christian and then is at home again Sept. 1 against Maranatha Christian Academy.

The first road match of the year is Sept. 3 at Lansing. Tonganoxie’s farthest trip this year is Oct. 17 at Hays.

Volleyball and girls golf teams open the season Sept. 1 at Atchison and Ottawa, respectively, while football starts Sept. 4 at Louisburg and Cross country opens the next day against Lansing and Leavenworth on the University of Saint Mary campus in Leavenworth. Cross country also will be hosting the Tonganoxie Invitational on Sept. 19 and the Frontier League Meet on Oct. 15,
