Tonganoxie’s Martin sets new THS career-wins mark for boys wrestling
Tonganoxie High's Brady Martin reaches 150 career victories. He hit 153 Saturday, Feb. 7, at the Frontier League championships at Chieftain Arena and now has the school record.
Brady Martin is now the all-time career wins leader at Tonganoxie High.
The THS senior won a league title Saturday and improved to 39-4 in the process. He now has 153 wins in his career as a Chieftain and has the all-time school record.
Martin won the crown in the 165-pound division this year.
He will eye a state title later this month after finishing as runner-up at 144 as a freshman, third at 165 as a sophomore and second as a junior at 175.
Teams take 2nd at league meet
Tonganoxie finished in second place on both the girls and boys side at the Frontier League championships on Saturday at Chieftain Arena.
THS finished as runner-up to Paola in both standings.
For the THS girls, There were several wrestlers who placed.
Tonganoxie had four gold medalists overall: Riley Crookham at 100, Kaylee Pnakey at 115, Autumn Wilson at 120 and Katy Duncan at 190.
Earning silver medals and finishing runners-up were Eliza Troyer-Partridge at 105 and Olivia Butler at 145.
Emerson Maslak took third at 125.
Finishing fourth at the league meet were Abigail Myers at 130 and Calyn Perry at 140.
The Tonganoxie girls now will direct their attention to the postseason, as THS will host super regionals Friday and Saturday at Chieftain Arena. The other super regional for 4A will be at Augusta. Matches will start at 1 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. Saturday.
The Tonganoxie boys team had 11 wrestlers place at the league meet.
Brady Martin (165), Case McAlister (126) and Clayton Crookham (157) also won gold.
Finishing second were Beau Underwood (138), Rowdey Starcher (106) and Tyler Chrisp (132), while Ried Wilson placed third at 150 and Sebastian Perry fourth at 175. Tyson King placed sixth at 190.
Tonganoxie boys will compete Feb. 21 at a 4A regional at Holton. Other regional sites are Beloit, Paola and Winfield.
