Tonganoxie takes on Fort Scott on Feb. 13, 2026 at FSHS.

Tonganoxie High basketball teams scored an exciting sweep Friday on the road in southeast Kansas against Fort Scott.

The girls won their game, 50-40, while the boys put together an exciting 65-57 victory in the final game of the night.

Friday’s girls game pitted the No. 9 seed against the No. 10 seed in the Class 4A East Bracket. It was a back-and-forth battle, but THS eventually was able to pull away.

Alyssa Schoeneck had 14 points and 3 rebounds, while Jaela Herrera scored 9, with all her points coming on three-pointers.

Addy Schooler chipped in 12, while Adlen Johnson put together a career high night of 8 points, along with 9 rebounds and a block.

In the boys game, Tonganoxie was down, 49-43, entering the fourth quarter, but the Chieftains rallied in the fourth and got the road victory against the Tigers, 65-57.

Luke McRae had a big night with seven three-pointers, including four in a row for a total of 21 points for a career high. Lachlan McRae scored 14 and had 7 assists in a big performance from the McRae brothers. Owen Seba also had a career night with 10 points, five rebounds and four assists. Luke Breuer had 9 points and 6 rebounds, while Kippton Harder had 2 points. Nolan McGuire had 6 points. Bodee Maslak had 3 points.

Substate watch

The playoff picture is still unclear with a few games still left to go in the regular season.

Tonganoxie is the No. 10 seed on the girls side at 13-7 heading into play this week. If there was no movement in seeding, THS would be on the road against No. 7 Hayden (14-5) in Topeka in the substate semifinals and then likely would play at No. 2 Eudora (16-2) if the team were to advance to the substate finals.

THS played Tuesday at Baldwin (8-11) and then Friday against Paola (3-15) and this coming Tuesday against Ottawa (15-5). THS defeated Baldwin, 55-50, in overtime on Jan. 8. The game at Baldwin took place after The Mirror’s print deadline.

THS already defeated Paola, 58-26, earlier this season. THS will try to defeat Ottawa for the first time after losing, 60-55, in the Garden City tournament finals in December and then during a game Jan. 9 at OHS, 47-46.

The THS boys currently are the No. 17 seed in the 4A East Bracket, but could get the final postseason berth at No. 16.
