Tonganoxie boys wrestling takes 8th place as team at Iowa tourney

Tonganoxie finished in the Top 10 of this year’s Herb Irgens Invitational this past week in Ida Grove, Iowa.

The THS boys wrestling team finished eighth with 108.5 points in the 27-team field.

Don Bosco won the meet with 280.5 points.

Tonganoxie had six teams place at this year’s tournament.

Brady Martin brought home gold in the 165-pound division. He was Tonganoxie’s lone first-place finisher, with Dax Duffett taking second in the 144-pound division.

Clayton Crookham placed fourth at 157 and Tyler Christ fifth at 132.

Beau Underwood nabbed sixth at 138, while Ried Wilson took seventh at 150.

Tonganoxie has a dual at 6 p.m. Thursday at Olathe South and then is at the Baldwin Invitational on Saturday. That meet starts at 9 a.m. in Baldwin.

From there it’s a dual on Feb. 5 against Holton and then the Frontier League Tournament on Feb. 7.

The Tonganoxie High girls team recently competed at the Olathe South dual tournament.

Tonganoxie has a tournament at Baldwin on Friday starting at 4 p.m. and then has the Holton dual on Wednesday, Feb. 4 at 6 p.m. at Chieftain Arena.
