Tonganoxie wrestlers qualify for NJCAA nationals for Cloud County

Cloud County's Tyler Pankey wrestles this season for the T-Birds. Pankey, A Tonganoxie High grad, recently qualified for the NJCAA National Championships.Tonganoxie High alums are headed to the National Junior College Athletic Association wrestling championships.
Tyler Pankey and Noah Bailey, who now wrestle at Cloud County, qualified for nationals by placing at the NJCAA South Central District tournament Feb. 14 in Pratt.
Pankey placed second at 197 pounds, while Bailey placed seventh at 149. CCCC placed sixth as a team at districts.
Both former THS wrestlers won gold as seniors at the 2024 state championships. Bailey is a sophomore for the T-Birds, while Pankey is a freshman.

The two THS alums will compete at the NJCAA National Championships on Friday and Saturday at the Mid-America Center in Council Bluffs, Iowa.
Pankey is the No. 14 seed at 197 and will face Sonnie Deheer from Rochester (Minn.) in his first competition.
Bailey will take on Western Wyoming’s Tommy Dalton, who is the No. 1 seed at 149.
