Tonganoxie basketball players named to all-Frontier League

The Tonganoxie High girls basketball team, fresh off the program’s best season in 15 years, has three players on this year’s All-Frontier League squad.

Senior Alyssa Schoeneck, who plans to continue her career at Tabor College in Hillsboro, was a first-team selection.

Junior Addy Schooler was named to the second team and senior Jaela Herrera earned honorable mention honors.

On the boys side, Tonganoxie senior Lachlan McRae was an honorable mention selection for the Chieftains.

Other first-team selections for the girls were Brynn Deterding, junior, Eudora; Leah Askins-Dieterich, junior, Ottawa; Isla Herman, senior, Spring Hill; and Avah Dye, sophomore, Eudora. Other second-team selections were Payton Lewis, freshman, Eudora; Chasitee Sambol, senior, Bonner Springs; Cami Collum, sophomore, Baldwin; and Aubrey Meder, senior, Spring Hill.

Joining Herrera as honorable mention were Kirby Evans, sophomore, Ottawa; Jayla Colter, sophomore, Eudora; Chloe Neufeld, senior, Baldwin; Addyson Thompson, senior, Bonner Springs; Amaya Burris, senior, Bonner Springs; Izzy Brunkow, junior, Eudora; Amanda Pitzer, senior, Paola; and Tatum Battle, freshman, Louisburg.

Baldwin and Bonner Springs, which won the 4A and 5A boys titles, respectively, had four of the five first-team spots for the boys all-league team.

Kelan Gruver, senior, and Jaiden Jones, sophomore, represented Bonner Springs, while Cooper Carr and Leo Schoenberger, both seniors, represented Baldwin.

Jaiden Jones, a sophomore from Ottawa, was the fifth selection.

Second-team selections were Cash Schneider, sophomore, Eudora; Jackson Bruce, junior, Springs Hill; Hoyt Hoffine, senior, Paola; Sy Thomas, sophomore, Eudora; and Jayce Mourning, junior, Bonner Springs.

Honorable mention selections alongside McRae were Jason Jones, senior, Bonner Springs; Nate Ferrell, senior, Bonner Springs; Jordan Miller, senior, Spring Hill; Herschel Strumberger, sophomore, Louisburg; Landon Murdock, sophomore, Paola; Prince Donnell, junior, Bonner Springs; Steven Bassett, junior, Paola; Eli Hedrick, junior, Spring Hill; and Colton Collum, senior, Baldwin.
