McRae brings home state medal for Tonganoxie at boys state golf

Tonganoxie has a state medalist again in boys golf.

Lachlan McRae placed 16th at this year’s Class 4A state championships in Hesston.

Wamego won the team title with a two-day score of 578. He advanced to Day 2 tied for fourth place with a 71. McRae followed that up with an 82 on Wednesday and secured his state medal. The Top 20 golfers at state earn medals.

McRae finished out his high school career as one of the top golfers in the state. It was a prep career that also included standout efforts in both soccer and basketball as well.

As for the team race at state golf, Wamego continued its dominance in 4A. The Raiders had a winning low score of 578. The team maintained its spot atop the leaderboard after Day 1.

WHS has now won four straight 4A team titles.

Bishop Miege finished as this year’s runner-up with a score of 598, while Andale was third with 618. Circle (626), Santa Fe Trail (629) and Fort Scott (633) finished out the Top 6 teams that advanced to Day 2 from the initial 12 teams.

Wamego’s Regan Kueker also won the individual title with a 138. The senior was runner-up in 2025 and tied for seventh in 2024.
