Tonganoxie High’s Sylas Lungu (34) celebrates a goal Sept. 29 against Cair Paravel alongside teammates, including Jacob Hickey (33), Owen Heffel (8), Ben Vought (10) and Mason Benedict.

Thursday’s match between Tonganoxie and Bonner Springs was moved up Thursday due to potential threatening weather.

The teams played through rain, but Tonganoxie couldn’t find the net and fell, 2-0, to BSHS. That game marked Tonganoxie’s third straight loss. Ottawa swept THS, 4-0, on Sept. 24 and Cair Paravel defeated Tonganoxie, 5-3, on Sept. 29.

Tonganoxie, now 4-6-1 on the season, is getting a full week break before its next match. THS plays this Thursday at Louisburg (6-2-1). The home finale will be Tuesday against Paola (3-6). Tonganoxie also plays the next day at Basehor-Linwood (1-8-1).

The final two matches of the regular season are Oct. 17 at Hays and Oct. 22 at Seaman in Topeka.

Tonganoxie was the No. 10 seed in the Class 4-1A East Bracket heading into play this week.

Bishop Miege is the No. 1 seed at 9-1, Maranatha Christian Academy is No. 2 at 9-2-1 and Eudora is No. 4 at 7-2-1. The current team in the No. 7 slot is Coffeyville (6-3-1). If the playoffs started today, that would be Tonganoxie’s first-round opponent.
