McLouth Bulldogs

McLouth High football stayed perfect on the season Friday with a 38-20 victory against Atchison County and now prepares for what likely will be its toughest test of the regular season.

The Bulldogs put together late scores to hold off the Tigers and improve to 5-0 overall and 4-0 in Northeast Kansas League play. Friday’s game was moved to Amelia Earhart Stadium in Atchison due to heavy rains last week. The stadium has artificial turf.

MHS now will prepare for a home game this coming Friday against Olpe, which enters the game at 4-1 after defeating Eureka, 49-0, Friday on the road. The Eagles, who compete in the Lyon County League, opened the season with a 20-7 loss to Osage City (now 4-1), but has rattled off four straight victories.

Both McLouth and Olpe are in the “Others Considered” category in the latest Kpreps website Top 5 rankings for Class 1A.

McLouth and Riverside are the remaining teams with undefeated records in Northeast Kansas League play. Riverside is 4-1 overall.
