The Chieftains won on a Jaxon Albert goal with an assist from Thaddeus Hileman.

Tonganoxie led, 1-0, about 7 minutes into the game (32:50 left) thanks to Albert’s first goal of the match. Mason Benedict assisted Albert on that goal.

The Chieftains held onto that lead until 9:46 left in regulation when Baldwin connected on a precision kick that snuck in under the crossbar.

Thursday’s victory snapped a three-match losing streak for Tonganoxie. THS also was outscored, 14-0, during that span (8-0 vs. Bishop Miege, 4-0 vs. Eudora and 2-0 at Maur Hill-Mount Academy).

THS is now 3-3-1 overall and 1-1 in Frontier League play. Tonganoxie takes on Hayden Catholic at 6 p.m. Tuesday at home and then is at Ottawa on Sept. 24 two days later.
