Festival of Trees celebration coming Saturday

McLouth’s 13th annual Festival of Trees Party and Christmas Tree Lighting celebration will be from 4-6 p.m. Saturday.

The party begins at 4 p.m. in the firehouse with free food, music, door prizes, caroling and Santa Claus. We’ll have a wonderful “Festival of Trees” when lit at 6 p.m.

Everyone is welcome to put up a tree in Luse Park, in downtown McLouth, of your own creation. Set up and removal will be the responsibility of the tree owner. Set up started Monday. Be ready to light up your tree by Dec. 2. Trees must be secured. Owners will be liable for damages. The trees must be then be removed from the park by Jan. 13.

Refreshments and door prizes for this event are donated by local businesses and folks who want this to be a special occasion for our community. Your donations may be delivered to McLouth City Hall.

If you have questions, please call Mary at 913-796-6921 or Kim at 913-796-6411.

Community advent service is Sunday

McLouth Church of the Nazarene will host this year’s Communitywide Advent Service at 7 p.m. Sunday.

This service marks the beginning of the season of Advent, a time to prepare our hearts, as well as the world, for the coming of Christ, which we celebrate on Christmas Day. Everyone is invited to attend.

McLouth Ministerial Alliance will receive a special offering, which will be used to provide food and assistance to individuals and families throughout the coming year.
