Tonganoxie High time travel design team returns from Wisconsin
Tonganoxie High School students just returned from the Experimental Aircraft Association AirVenture Oshkosh fly-in convention in Oshkosh, Wisconsin.
Members of the Tonganoxie High School Time Displacement Team participated in a booth at the convention, which ran for a week starting July 23 and concluding Sunday.
The THS time displacement team won first place in a Time Traveler Design Competition on May 10 at Basehor-Linwood High School. That victory allowed the team the privilege of participating in the Siemens restored aircraft booth in the KidVenture section at the show this past week.
The team designed, built, and delivered a fully operational full-scale version of a time machine. The requirements included a 6-foot diameter platform, a minimum of 7-foot capsule height, a ramp system that is ADA-accessible, an electric motorized drive system able to rotate 1,000 pounds forward and backwards, 180-degree rotation, lighting, sound system, soundproofing and a 3-D CAD representation of all of the parts.
Team members are Cayden Hunter (incoming senior), Solomon Carter, Lucy Graveman and Wesley Johnson (incoming juniors) and Joshua Duvall, Caleb Hodges and Rowin Pruitt (incoming sophomores) and Tracey Waldeier (sponsor).
