Tonganoxie High girls wrestling takes 3rd at Rossville Regional, sending 4 to state; McLouth qualifies 2
ROSSVILLE — The Tonganoxie High girls wrestling team will be sending four to the Class 4-1A state championships later this month at Tony’s Pizza Events Center in Salina, while McLouth will have two wrestlers competing.
Grace Stean and Holly Colvert won regional titles Saturday in Rossville in the 170- and 190-pound divisions, while Autumn Wilson (105) and Mackenzie Colgrove (140) both placed third at regionals.
The top four wrestlers in each weight class advance to state.
Colvert, who placed at state as a freshman and sophomore, will return with a 31-1 record as a senior. Stean, a sophomore, will enter state at 33-10. Wilson, a freshman, sports a 28-11 record after regionals, while Colgrove, a sophomore, is 26-15.
McLouth’s Leighanna Patz (27-4) and Marissa Caray (22-12) also are headed to Salina. Patz, a junior, placed second at 130, while fellow junior Caray took fourth at 140.
Tonganoxie finished third at regionals with 122 points; McLouth placed 11th with 49.
Baldwin won the regional crown in convincing fashion, scoring 227 on Saturday. Santa Fe Trail finished second with 139.
