Tongie Rocks meet-up starts tonight
The community-based Tongie Rocks group today will begin having a monthly meet-up at the library on the fourth Wednesday evening of each month.
The group paints rocks and then places them around Tonganoxie for others to find. The goal is to spread a little joy and happiness! The group meets from 6-7:30 p.m. on those evenings and is open to all ages. The library is providing paint and brushes, but participants will need to bring their own rocks for painting.
To see more about what the group does, check out their Facebook group TongieROCKS.
Caregiver support group monthly meeting
The library is hosting a new Caregiver Support Group from the Council on Aging.
The group will be facilitated by Machelle Gilhaus, Master of Science in psychology, Evergreen Hospice Care, LLC and is open to caregivers of all ages. The group is intended to provide support to caregivers through shared experiences as well as provide helpful tips. This will be a free monthly program 1-2:30 p.m. on the second Wednesday of each month.
The next meeting date is Aug. 9.
Remembering the King
The 46th anniversary of Elvis Presley will take place at 6 p.m. Aug. 16 and the library will be remembering him with a dinner and a show at the library.
We’ll be watching an Elvis classic movie with Ann Margaret, “Viva Las Vegas,” and dining on another Elvis classic, grilled peanut butter and banana sandwiches. We’ll also serve chips and a drink. This is a free event, but registration is required to attend. You can call the library at 913-845-3281 to add your name to the list.
