Laura Snow reacts to news that Deer Ridge Estate is named this year’s Business of the Year for Tonganoxie Business Association at TBA’s annual appreciation banquet Feb. 28. Snow and her husband, Dr. Mark Petersen, operate the venue, which also again this year was the site of the annual TBA appreciation event. The venue, which is north of Tonganoxie, hosts weddings, special events such as Tonganoxie High School prom and more. Presenting the award is TBA board member Raquel Hamman.
Tonganoxie Business Association had its annual appreciation banquet on Feb. 28 at Deer Ridge Estate north of Tonganoxie.
Tom Krause, a longtime Missouri educator, served as speaker for the event. He is a motivational speaker and 20-time contributing author to the “Chicken Soup for the Soul” book series.

TBA board members announced this year’s award winners in various categories at the banquet.
Diane Bretthauer was named volunteer of the year, while Grounded Coffeehouse won the Non-Profit Organization of the Year award. Adam Ludwin’s Win Chiropractic won the New Business of the Year award and Deer Ridge Estate was given the Business of the Year Award.

Diane Bretthauer was named this year’s TBA Volunteer of the Year. Bretthauer, who works at Kansas Insurance, is heavily involved in volunteer work in the Tonganoxie school district and with community events, including the Mayor’s Christmas Tree Lighting event.
