Tonganoxie Library Corner: Pumpkin Chunkin’, Spooktacular surprise; Dinovember; Yarn and fabric exchange
Pumpkin Chunkin’ is Monday
We’re doing a little pumpkin chunkin’ on our grassy side lawn at 5 p.m. Monday.
We’ll have a catapult set up and a bunch of mini pumpkins. Then we’ll catapult them to see how far they can fly (within reason, of course!). The event is for any age and also for anyone who wants to have a little holiday fun!
We’ll also have donuts to snack on during the event thanks to the wonderful volunteers at West Haven Baptist Church.
Spooktacular magical surprise
The library is taking part in the downtown Spooktacular festivities Friday, but we’re doing it from inside the library.
We’ll have candy … lots of candy, but we’ll also have a little magical surprise, too. We’ve invited magician Aaron Lewis, and he’ll be doing short magic tricks for all the trick-or-treaters. There will be magic and candy throughout 6-7:30 p.m. at the library.
Dinovember fun for youths
Starting Nov. 6, the library will have several dinosaur-themed activities to turn the month of November into Dinovember!
Youths can pick up a dinosaur scavenger hunt sheet at the front desk and solve the clues to locate a variety of dinosaurs placed around the library. This activity will be available all week long. At 4:30 p.m. Nov. 7, youths have the chance to make their very own dinosaur “egg” bath bomb with a little dinosaur buried right inside.
Lastly, at 10:30 a.m. Nov. 10, younger children can enjoy a dinosaur storytime with Ms. Nicole.
Yarn and Fabric Exchange coming soon
Now’s the time to purge your unused yarns and fabrics with the library’s Yarn and Fabric Exchange on Nov. 11.
If you’d like to exchange your items and possibly take home new yarn or fabric, bring your items a little before 11 a.m. on the day of the exchange. The time slot of 11 a.m.-noon is reserved just for those exchanging, but at noon anything still here is available for anyone to look at or take home. Everything is free.
We will also accept donations of yarn or fabric the days leading up to the exchange if someone would just like to donate. For more information on the event, contact Kim at kimd@tonganoxielibrary.org.
