McLouth looks to ‘Conquer the Vikings’ Friday at MHS homecoming

McLouth High School will have homecoming coronation Friday during halftime of the MHS-Mission Valley football game. The homecoming parade will take place Friday afternoon in downtown McLouth, with a pep rally and candidate games to follow at Luse Park.

It’s now McLouth’s turn to celebrate Homecoming Week.

Festivities started Monday with themed dress-up days.

Monday was Iconic Duo Day, while Tuesday was Wild Wild West Day.

Today is Class Color Day, Thursday is Red Carpet Day and Friday and Purple and Gold Bulldog Spirit Day.

For Class Color Day, students are to dress in colors according to their year in school. Seniors dress in pink, juniors in purple, sophomores in blue and freshman in green.

Starting at 6:30 p.m. today there will be a Buff ‘n Tuff/Powder Puff football game, scavenger hunt, tug of war and bonfire. The games will take place in the MHS Gold Gymnasium, with the tug of war and scavenger hunt to follow. The bonfire, which is open to MHS students only, will take place after all of those activities.

Friday there will be a talent show at 2:15 p.m. at MHS, with the homecoming parade to follow. The parade will run through downtown McLouth. It will go north on Summit Street, east on West Agnus Street and then north on Union and west on West Cynthia. As the parade reaches West Cynthia Street, students will return to Luse Park (dowtown city park) after the parade.

A pep rally and candidate games will take place after the parade at Luse Park in downtown McLouth.

This year’s theme is Conquer the Vikings, as MHS will play the Mission Valley Vikings at 7 p.m. Friday at Stan Braksick Sports Complex.

Homecoming king and queen will be crowned at halftime of the game. A school dance will follow the game at the high school.
